1. Who we are
UnifiedAid ("we", "us", "UnifiedAid") operates this website at unifiedaid.org. We help users discover and apply for US federal and state benefit programs. We are not a government agency and have no affiliation with the United States Government, the Social Security Administration, USDA, HHS, or any state agency.
2. Information we collect
When you use UnifiedAid we may collect:
- Account information — name, email, password (hashed), Google OAuth profile data when you choose Google sign-in.
- Eligibility inputs — household size, income, situation flags (e.g., disabled, veteran, student). These are processed on our servers to compute matches; you control whether they are persisted.
- Application data — information you provide while preparing an application (typed, uploaded, or generated by AI).
- Documents — files uploaded to the document vault (Premium). Encrypted at rest.
- Usage — pages visited, features used, error logs, IP address, device & browser metadata, via product analytics (PostHog).
- Payment — processed by Stripe. We never store your full card number.
- Referrals — your referral code, who joined via your link.
3. How we use your information
- Match you with programs you may qualify for.
- Pre-fill applications using AI (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI). Inputs you provide may be transmitted to these processors solely to generate the requested output. We do not allow training on your data.
- Send you account, recertification, and security emails (via Resend).
- Process subscription payments (via Stripe).
- Detect when government data changes (we re-verify program info from official sources).
- Improve the product (anonymous, aggregated analytics).
4. Sub-processors we use

- Anthropic, OpenAI — AI form-fill, voice transcription, content freshness, translation
- Google — OAuth sign-in (only if you choose it)
- Resend — transactional email
- MongoDB Atlas — database hosting
- PostHog — product analytics
- Cloud hosting providers — for the application itself
5. We do not sell your data
We do not and will not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. Affiliate partner links displayed on the site are tracked only after you click them — we never share your account data with affiliate partners.
6. How we protect your data
- HTTPS in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields.
- Strong password hashing (bcrypt).
- Httponly session cookies + scoped tokens for API access.
- Principle of least privilege for internal access.
- Vendors are SOC 2 / HIPAA-aligned where applicable.
7. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account — wipes all personal data within 30 days.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Opt out of non-essential communications.
California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), and Utah (UCPA) residents have additional rights, including the right to opt out of profiling and to appeal a denied request. Email hello@unifiedaid.org to exercise any right.
8. Children
UnifiedAid is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Cookies & tracking
We use first-party cookies for sign-in sessions and a privacy-friendly analytics tool (PostHog) to measure feature usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
10. International users
UnifiedAid is operated from the United States and intended for US residents applying for US benefits. By using the service, you consent to processing of your data in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced by email and on the site at least 14 days before they take effect.
